In Search of Sunflowers

A Year of Sonnets, Volume 1.

July 2020.

At the end of 2018, I set myself a challenge. I wanted to write a sonnet every day in 2019. And while, I ultimately failed at that goal, this is the collection that came out of it. 124 sonnets sonnets, written during the course of a year, in the order they were written. Follow along from January through December, a year in a poet's mind.

A Million Lives in One

May 2021.

Have you ever wanted to slip out of your skin, to become somebody else, if only for a little while? Have you ever wished that you could escape into a fictional world, never to come back again? Have you ever been swept whole-heartedly into a story, only to wish that you could stay there forever? Have you ever finished a book, only to realize that those pages have changed your entire way of thinking, your entire life?

A Million Lives in One is one reader's poetic adventure through some of the novels he loves.

Say a Long Goodbye

March 2022.
How do you say goodbye to somebody you loved?

When you're a poet, there's only one way to do it. You write, over and over again, when everything is spiraling around you, when all of the dreams and plans that you made are lost. There's nothing left but the loss, the ache, the missing. And if you're not careful, it can swallow your life.

This collection of poetry spans thirteen years of grief and healing: the uneven process, the setbacks, the hurt, the whole cycle of it, over and over again. Love is messy; losing it is messier--and healing is never a pretty process. This collection is a poet's attempt to piece himself together, one stitch at a time.
